*Accessibility
The company places accessibility at the heart of its mission, making culture available to children in remote regions of Canada. We are currently working to organize tours in unconventional venues such as schools, gymnasiums, and more. Accessibility also means adapting our performances: we work closely with our presenters to meet the specific needs of neurodivergent audiences or those with disabilities.
*Sustainability
We are currently developing an eco-responsibility plan to be implemented within two years. This plan encompasses our production, distribution, and creation activities, emphasizing sustainability, the reuse of production materials, the selection of responsible suppliers, resource sharing, and the optimization of travel and transportation methods.
*Innovation, Research, and Development
TDO’s workshop is a magical place where shows come to life. Here, designers and craftspeople focus on carefully selecting puppets to best convey the desired dramaturgy. TDO strongly encourages its artisans to deepen their expertise through research and experimentation. This dedication to artistic excellence is what gives the company’s productions a uniqueness that is widely celebrated by audiences.
*Cultural Mediation
Théâtre de l’Œil offers two cultural mediation workshops, inviting children to reflect on the themes explored before and/or after the performance. The first workshop, created in collaboration with author Virginie Beauregard D. and the actors of Perruche, uses poetry to delve into the unique issues presented in the play. The second workshop focuses on the art of puppetry, immersing participants in manipulation techniques and introducing them to the distinctive features of puppets.
*Optimization of Working Conditions
All the talents surrounding the company—designers, artisans, actors, the artistic direction, the distribution and communications managers, and the managing director—play a key role in the Théâtre de l’Œil’s reputation. It is essential to provide them with working conditions that value both their expertise and their dedication.
*National and international standing
Our reputation allows us to collaborate with iconic figures from Quebec’s stage. For the production 176 pas, we had the privilege of working with playwright, screenwriter, and author Fanny Britt, as well as singer Ariane Moffatt, who created the sound design. These exceptional partnerships enrich our creations and help elevate Théâtre de l’Œil’s presence on the cultural scene.
